A Montana ranching family confronts others who are encroaching on their land. Forrie J. John Dutton (Kevin Costner) often seems to "forget" his Montana accent and reverts to his usual Southern California voice.

This series has been on the air since 2018, but this is my first time watching it. I finished the first episode of the first season last night, almost 90 minutes long. As for the introduction of the Dutton family, we see that they have a strong influence in their valley, but they are defending themselves from "attacks".

One is a developer who wants to build a condominium

Another from the neighboring Native reservation to reclaim their land and some of their livestock. Dutton (played authentically by Kevin Costner, in his 60s) has several grown cowboy sons and a helicopter with a dedicated pilot to help him cope with all of this and the vast size of his ranch. I watched the first episode of the first season (streamed on Peacock) to get a feel for the Dutton family, because I’m currently binge-watching all ten episodes of Taylor Sheridan’s latest show, “1883,” which is a prequel of sorts.

It's just not the kind of show I can get hooked on and keep watching

(Fictionally) It’s 1883 when the Dutton family from Tennessee joins a larger group on a road trip from Fort Worth, Texas “somewhere out west.” They’re supposed to stop when they get to Montana. Again, this is fiction, but given the ages of the men and the fact that Costner was born in 1955, his character would likely be the great-grandson of patriarch Dutton (played by Tim McGraw) in 1883. ." For example, with kids born around 1875, 1900, 1925, and the 50s, "Yellowstone" is a really good series, the actors are all top notch, the cinematography and sound are excellent.

Now that I'm 70, I'd rather spend my time watching "nice" stories

It's hard to find characters with redeeming qualities, and I don't really like long-running shows that focus on constant arguments and fights, and often murder.
